WVWC Women’s Soccer Team Falls to Concord, 2-1

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. (WV News) — The West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcat women’s soccer team dropped a home match to the visiting Concord University Mountain Lions on Wednesday night at Culpepper Stadium, 2-1.

The Bobcats landed the game’s first blow as Paloma Zamora rifled a blistering shot into the back of the net in the 38th minute to put the Bobcats up in the waning minutes of the first half.

A failed clearing by Concord’s midfield left the ball in the center of the pitch 20 yards from the net and Zamora postage stamp planted it in the upper right corner.

Sydney Tucker notched her first goal of the game in the 50th minute before finding the back of the net a score time 10 minutes later for the match-winner off a pass from Nora Voisey.

The Mountain Lions would hold on to secure the road victory over the Bobcats, 2-1.

The West Virginia Wesleyan women’s soccer team (2-11-1, 0-10-1 in MEC play) will look to collect its first conference win as it travels to play the University of Charleston Sunday, Oct. 22, at 1 p.m.
