A drunk Russian tourist has been arrested for rampaging through a hotel and fighting Thai police like a boxer.
Aleksandr Tolstv sparked alarm when he began grappling with a group of fellow tourists at the GLOW Mira Karon Beach hotel lobby in Phuket, Thailand.
Hotel staff called the police, who arrived to apprehend the crazed holidaymaker. However, he refused to cooperate and instead fought with the cops while wearing only boxer shorts.
Footage shows Aleksandr ducking and weaving as he throws jabs and hooks at the police officers surrounding him.
Despite attempts to calm him down, he continued his rampage, prompting the cops to zap him with a taser. Two policemen suffered minor injuries.
The Russian man was taken to the Chalong Hospital before being hauled to the Karon Police Station for further legal proceedings.
Police Colonel Kunadech Na Nongkhai, superintendent of Karon Police Station, said: “The suspect was charged with obstructing police officers with physical force. He was sent to court.”
The police were requesting the Immigration Bureau to revoke his visa. He will be deported without delay.
Thailand has seen an influx of Russians seeking safety since the conflict erupted with Ukraine last year.
Despite concerns surrounding continued law-breaking from some of them, Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin has welcomed the influx of foreign cash and even courted reviled Russian leader Vladimir Putin. In October last year, he invited the former KGB officer to visit Thailand to strengthen ties between the two countries.
