The Concord, by Trico Homes, presents an example of how this confluence can be supported. Measuring 2,310 square feet, this front-drive single-family model is currently demonstrated as a show home in the northeast Calgary community of Cornerbrook.
It has four bedrooms and half bathrooms. Rather than positioning all bedrooms on the second level, one can be found just off the foyer. This sleep space sits next to a full bathroom with a full-height tile shower. This setup lets the occupants of the bedroom access everything they need within the home on one level.
There’s distance between this bedroom and the more active parts of the main floor, such as the kitchen. This supports privacy and limits the chances of noise creating a disruption.
All bedrooms on the second level have their own walk-in closet, supporting children through various stages of life.
While it is standard for master bedrooms to have an ensuite, one of the secondary bedrooms has one, as well. This secondary bedroom is 13 feet one inch by 12 feet, which is comparable to masters in other homes.
Its walk-in closet is accessed within its ensuite. Features in this ensuite include a vanity with two sinks beneath a full-width mirror.
A central bonus room with an elegant tray-style ceiling design separates the secondary bedrooms from the master bedroom, which stretches across the back of the top floor.
The master ensuite is spacious, starring a well-sized shower with full-height tile and a glass door with black handle. It also boasts a deep soaker tub beneath a large window, and vanity with two sinks under a full-width mirror. Like the above mentioned bedroom, the walk-in closet for the master is accessed inside the ensuite.
In both cases, this creates a convenient, singular space in which to get ready for one’s day.
The second level is also equipped with a laundry room with a front-load washer and dryer, along with plenty of space to sort and fold a clean load.
People who enjoy hosting get-togethers will see value in the layout of the main level. The island in the L-shaped kitchen faces the dining area and great room courtesy an open-concept design. This allows one to put the finishing touches on dinner preparation while engaging in conversation with guests seated nearby.
The island, itself, seats at least three people, and has plenty of space around it, ideal for either gathering or circulation.

In the show home, the primary kitchen is seen with stainless steel appliances, including a chimney-style hoodfan fridge with french doors and wall oven.
There is, in fact, a secondary kitchen displayed, as well. Sometimes known as a spice kitchen, this add-on cooking area is leaned upon for its ability to contain scents produced in the preparation of some cuisines. It’s also useful, when guests are over, for keeping the meal preparation mess tucked away behind a closed door.
