Offensive Outburst Leads Lady Senators Over Concord University JV

Walters State put up their highest point total of the season on Monday evening against Concord University JV, taking an 85-56 win.

With the win, Walters State improved to 4-3 on the season.

Kyra Perkins led the way for Walters State with a career-high 23 points. Along with Perkins, Kristyna Boyd finished with 18 points. Other scorers in double figures for the Lady Senators were Emmanuella Amaefula with 13 points and Jeremya Johnson with 12 points.

Other scorers for Walters State in the game included Lia Wright with seven points, Briontanay Marshall with four points, Tianna Rhodes with three points, Julienne Ongbagnamen with three points and Asia Barr with two points.

The Lady Senators and Concord University battled in the opening quarter as the Lady Senators held a 15-14 lead after one. Boyd scored four in the quarter, while Amaefula and Perkins had three each.

In the second, the Lady Senators began to pull away as they scored 22 points and held Concord to just 10, leading 37-24 at the break. Perkins had eight points in the quarter, knocking down two 3-pointers, while Amaefula and Boyd had four each.

The Lady Senators kept pouring it on in the third as they scored 22 more points and led 59-37 heading to the fourth. It was all Johnson for Walters State in the quarter as she scored all 12 of her points. Perkins and Boyd had four each, as well.

In the fourth, Walters State finished things off with a bang. The Lady Senators scored 26 points, Perkins scoring eight and Amaefula and Boyd scoring six each. Concord scored 19, but it wasn’t nearly enough as Walters State grabbed the win.
