CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — An Antioch woman was charged Tuesday with seven felony counts related to the production and distribution of child pornography, the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office said.
Michelle Nicole Hidalgo, 28, was arrested Friday by the Contra Costa County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Officers served Hidalgo with a search warrant at her home and seized equipment believed to be used in the production and distribution of pornographic images of minors.
The day prior to her arrest, a social media company notified task force members that child abuse sexual materials of a small child were being shared on their platform, Contra Costa County DA’s Office Spokesperson Ted Asregadoo said.
At the time of her arrest Friday, Hidalgo was working part-time as a nanny for the victim’s family, Asregadoo said.
Hidalgo remained in custody Tuesday at Contra Costa County jail in Martinez, where her bail is set at $800,000. She is scheduled to make her first court appearance Wednesday in Martinez.
The Sexual Assault Unit of the Contra Costa DA’s Office is prosecuting the case.
The investigation was conducted by the Contra Costa County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, which is comprised of detectives, investigators and inspectors from the Walnut Creek, Concord, Pleasant Hill, Brentwood, Pittsburg, San Ramon, Danville, Oakley and Moraga police departments, the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office and Contra Costa DA’s Office, as well as the U.S. Secret Service and Homeland Security.
