Missing Concord Man, Pickup Truck Found Submerged In Merrimack River

An elderly man from Concord with dementia and other health issues has been found dead.

The body of David Peistrup and his Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck were found off River Road in Bow, about eight feet off the shoreline of the Merrimack River, about 100 yards from a boat launch Thursday. Multiple law enforcement agencies — including Concord police, Bow police and fire and rescue teams, Marine Patrol, and New Hampshire Fish & Game were all called to the area around noon.

At first, investigators did not know if Peistrup was inside the pickup truck.

But later, as dive teams searched the area, they confirmed he was inside the truck. Peistrup’s body was removed around 3 p.m.

A yellow buoy remains in the water where the pickup truck was found. The truck will be removed from the river Friday.

Peistrup was reported missing last week after last being seen on the evening of July 28, driving in his truck from a home on Rex Drive.

While specifics about the case were not known at post time, investigators do not believe the truck floated down from the area between Exit 13 and 14 during the past 12 hours — after a reported sighting of the vehicle near Loudon Road in Concord Wednesday night. It was suspected Peistrup drove off River Road at the boat dock into the river.
