Sep. 24—Prospective voters who want to learn more about candidates and issues in Mentor, Mentor-on-the-Lake and Concord Township on the November ballot are welcome to attend a pair of Candidates & Issues forums.
They are being hosted this October by The League of Women Voters of Lake County in partnership with Mentor Public Library, according to a news release.
The first forum will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 9 at the library’s Lake Branch, 5642 Andrews Road in Mentor-on-the-Lake, and it will focus on candidates and issues in Mentor-on- the-Lake.
Candidates for mayor and Mentor-on-the-Lake City Council have been invited to speak. The city has also been invited to discuss the four questions and issues on the ballot, which pertain to parks and recreation, police operations, fire operations, and road construction and repair in that city.
The second forum will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 12 at the library’s Main Branch — 8215 Mentor Ave. in Mentor. It will focus on candidates and issues in Mentor, Concord Township and the Mentor School District.
Candidates for school board, Mentor City Council, Concord Township Trustee, and Concord Township Fiscal Officer have been invited to speak. Mentor School District and Concord Township will both have opportunities to discuss levies that they respectively have on the November ballot.
The forums are free to attend and open to the public.
The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization that encourages informed and active participation in government. It never supports or opposes a political party or candidate, the release noted.
