James Spring Obituary

Concord, NH – It is with great sadness that the family of Jim Spring announce his passing on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. Jim lived a life full of family, friends, and adventure. He was a devoted family man and a loyal friend to many.

Jim is predeceased by his parents, Arthur Francis Spring and Margaret (Dockx) Spring.

He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 51 years, Diana (Thorp) Spring, his brother Gerald Spring and his wife Jean, and dozens of cousins. He was loved by his children, Joni (Spring) Menard and her husband Roger, Jeffrey Spring and his wife Dawn, Lee Anna (Crittenden) Bruzga and her partner Jim, and Shawna (Crittenden) Coyer and her husband Tracy. Jim had seven grandchildren that affectionately called him Puppy or The Pupster. They are Daniel J Spring, Jessica (Iarrobino) Gagnon, Tyler Spring, Chelsea Bruzga, Anthony Iarrobino, Patrick Bruzga and Samantha Iarrobino. Jim was also a proud great-puppy to nine great grandchildren.

After his honorable discharge from the United States Coast Guard Reserves and attending UNH and NHTI, he decided to follow in his father’s footsteps at Honeywell in Manchester, NH as a tool and die maker. It was there that he met the love of his life, Diana, and decided to start his own business. With Diana’s help and the help of his dad, Art, one the most skilled tool and die makers in New England, Spring Machine and Tool was born. Many long hours, three different locations, and several shrewd business decisions led to the final location of Spring Machine and Tool, now Spring Development Group, on Candia Road in Manchester, NH.

Other than his family, Jim was most proud of the business he grew from its humble beginnings in the basement of his parents’ home on Candia Road. Spring Machine and Tool was born out of his hard work and dedication and allowed him to provide a comfortable life for his family.

Jim definitely knew how to make the most of his free time. When he wasn’t at work, he loved boating on Lake Horace, snowbirding in Cape Coral, FL, snowmobiling in Pittsburg and Canada with friends, skiing with family, traveling to many different countries, and golfing. His passion for the game of golf was evident in his 30 year membership to Duston Country Club. Anyone who had the pleasure of teeing up with Jim can attest to his expert use of his favorite club, the hand-wedge. Jim was also a member of several other clubs: The Greater Manchester Walking Association, The Lake Horace Skinny Dippers Association, The Weare Winter Wanderers Snowmobile Club, and various other associations and clubs.

Jim always said he wanted to donate all of his money to stray cats, so in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pope Memorial SPCA of Concord Merrimack County at 94 Silk Farm Rd, Concord, NH 03301. Rest easy, Jimmy. We all hope you are enjoying endless CC & Gingers and a bottomless box of Cheez-Its.
