Public filing for school board and city council positions begins Friday with some open seats due to the exit of several prominent elected officials, including Concord Mayor Jim Bouley.
The filing period will be open until Monday, September 18.
Though most city councilors are running for reelection, Ward 2 Councilor Erle Pierce said last week that he stepping down while Rob Kleiner, director of operations at Northeast Delta Dental, will run in his place, he announced last month.
Additionally, contested races could develop in Ward 2, Ward 5 and Ward 6 while former school board member Kate West plans to run for Ward 9. At-large councilor Byron Champlin announced last week his plans to run for mayor.
Ward 3 Councilor Jennifer Kretovic said in an email last week that she is considering running for Champlin’s former position, which would leave her seat vacant.
Three seats on the Concord School Board will be on the ballot as the terms of board members Thomas Croteau (School Voting Zone A – Wards 1, 2, 3, 4), Jonathan Weinberg (School Voting Zone B – Wards 5, 6, 7), and Brenda Hastings (School Voting Zone C – Wards 8, 9, 10) end on December 31.
If elected to school board positions, members will serve a three year term beginning on January 1, 2024.
On Thursday at 6 p.m., the school board will host an information night at 38 Liberty Street for any resident interested in serving on the board. Candidacy can be declared at the school district offices.
